FWSK 2012 - 4th day: Rosica Mrsik

The prevailing motive which threads into every collection of Rosica Mrsic is that every item of clothing should be created with an idea and a lot of attention in order to outlive the current trends and to create a constant feeling of excitement. The design should be practical, with purpose and function, to have a form which would attract but also provide comfort and the most important of all, to have a defined and characteristic look. The inspiration and challenge of this collection was to join the African traditional techniques of covering the body and details from the Victorian costumes. Beside the recognizable geometrical approach to creating and different ways of elaboration of the female silhouette, the moulage technique was also applied within the collection, which complies with the theme of inspiration while also capturing a cozy and relaxed form.

FWSK 2012 - 2nd day: Jazz & Fashion

JAZZ & FASHION 

The Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje, Fashion Weekend Skopje (FWSK), and Macedonian Fashion Formation (MFF) are proud to present a special evening of fashion and jazz on Tuesday, April 3rd. The main goal of this event is the promotion of the Macedonian fashion industry and broad economic development in Macedonia. Inspired by the richness of the jazz culture, promising new designers will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity alongside some of the most established designers in the country. After an open call for Macedonian designers, the final selection of participants was made by a jury that included MFF, FWSK, and US Embassy representatives. The twelve selected designers will showcase their outfits at a gala evening hosted at the American Embassy during the 5th season of Fashion Weekend Skopje, from April 2nd – 11th, 2012.

HONG KONG EXPRESS

 inspired by Wong Kar-wai's movies "In the mood for love" and "2046"

 The collection comprises 16 fashion looks - 11 of them are female and 5 are male. There is a mixture of traditional and natural materials (vintage textiles used at some occasions) as well as textiles from the new generation, strong textures, which were all used in the process of manifacture. The most of the female looks are of stylish qipao dresses, skirts and blouses.. The men`s outfits are derived from the stylization of the classic costume with adding elements of sport`s clothing. In the collection, there are black, white, grey and neutral tones with an emphasis on the intensive colours (green, yellow, purple etc.). Inspiration: the movies “In the Mood for Love” and “2046” of Wong Kar-Wai, the culture of Hong Kong in the 1960s of the XX century. The collection is realized with a great support of Lidia Mincev from Sidney, Australia, who is an historian of art and a beauty-of-soul enthusiast.
