We finally caught Katarina Ivanovska in Skopje, since she is on a relation USA - Macedonia last weeks. We all already know about her movie role, but what you don't know, and what is she announcing today exclusive for readers of "Zdravo" is her collaboration with "Victoria's Secret "!
The girl that started her career in 2004, collaborated with world's most famous designers and fashion houses, finds her place in the team of the most beautiful girls from all over the world for the most popular brand of women's underwear. Bravo for Kiki!
Zdravo: Today for "Zdravo" we exclusively announce that Katarina Ivanovska is a part of a team "Victoria's Secret." I guess this means a lot to you and your career. How did the collaboration come about?
Katarina: After 4 years of hard work and going to castings, it appears that the responsible people in "Victoria's Secret" are tired of rejecting me, so they finally booked me for photoshooting. We shoot twice so far. The first time - underwear for the website, it was somehow a test whether they like it or not. Luckily I left a good impression and before 5 days I shoot for a major clothing catalog.
Zdravo: What changed for you on a professional level after the start of cooperation with "Victoria's Secret"?
Katarina: It is early to say that something has changed my work schedule, however, "Victoria's Secret" is the key point that happened to me this year and hopefully I will continue to pursue the career upward. If you ask me, I'm the happiest girl in the world. smile.gif
Zdravo: I know that you desire to be part of a movie for a long time now and here you finally got a chance. You play the main character in the movie by Darko Mitrevski. Tell me more about it ...
Katarina: I knew Darko only for 5 minutes when he offered me a role in his movie, and of course I accepted with great pleasure. The film is called "The 3rd Half" and in a few days we are starting with shooting. Yes, I play the female role or rather - the character of Rebecca, who is a girl of my age and is Jewish. All the action takes place before and during the Second World War. I am honored that I have the opportunity to be a part of an acting elite. I have daily rehearsals, make-up , costumes, piano, horseback riding and what is particularly interesting, and I have to mention it, is that I learn Ladino, the language spoken by Sephardi Jews, today spoken only by a few thousand people.
Zdravo: You are excellent in your work, you have had a long experience and a huge amount of success. But now you are an actress and you have just began. Do you doubt yourself that you will be equally good in the acting job?
Katarina: Thank you for compliments. I put the maximum effort in everything I do. So, I am sure and I promise you that I will give everything from myself to this project. I have a huge stage fright which is becoming less and less powerfull, however without all those butterflies in the stomach it's not that fun isn't it? I expect a great amount of support from the team because I will definitely need it. Thanks to Darko and Verica (who play the role of Zamila, my best friend), they helped me a lot in the first days with the reading of the text and in this whole situation which is new for me. It's up to me now how I'll continue with building of the character.
Zdravo: Is the number of your fee for the movie, that came out in the media correct? Is it true that you have given Sergej Trifunovich some complex?
Katarina: No and no and no!!! They just want to sell their papers out so they write all kinds of titles. Actually Sergej and I have excellent friendly relations.
Zdravo: So, this is a perfect example how people write stories about public figures which are not always true. Does these misinformations hurt you or are you run by the rule ''Just let them place the bigger picture?''
Katarina: Not the bigger, but in my case re-one. The journalists are too lazy to find new photos of me with a help of ''Google'' so they constantly put the same old photos. They don't even write much about me, because there is no gossip. However they don't hurt me. I can understand them. Like I said before they have to sell papers out, it is a side of popularity which you have to have a good control on.
Zdravo: On the other hand, people become celebrities due to media. Especially for you, when in the international newspapers they write about Skopje and Macedonia, they write that it's a birth place of Mother Teresa and now Katarina Ivanovska. Do you like that?
Katarina: This was written in the London's newspaper, comparing London to Skopje. Of course I was very happy, it made me feel like the ambassador of Macedonia and I am so proud of that.
Zdravo: You were in New York durring the hurricane ''Irene'', and you were also among those who had to evacuate. Tell us your experiences...
Katarina: Hahaha... this sounds like ''And you were one of the survivors?'' I actually landed when Irene came, I live close to Wall Street, a section where people had to evacuate. With my boyfriend we barely found a room in a hotel inside in Manhattan; we slept through all night. Like always, Americans love drama, so they announced it as if it was the end of the world. There was nothing serious in Manhattan, only wind and rain, but unfortunatelly New Jersey and Long Islands have had victims. For the first time Time Square at 6 o'clock in the morning was like square of the ghosts. In the supermarkets there were long lines of people waiting to buy food and acting as there will be no food from tomorrow on.
Zdravo: People think that it is enough to be only beautiful in the fashion industry but it's not exactly like that. What are the sacrifices you have to make in order to succeed?
Katarina: The outside appearance is not always crucial for the model. You have to posses inner beauty, charm, simply you have to shine from the outside and inside. The modelling is just about waiting and waiting and waiting. The biggest sacrifice for me is distance from my family and friends. When you begin with your career so early like I did, somehow you find yourself too quickly in a world of adults which your peers are experiencing it step by step. On the other hand it is a big privilege. You became independent earlier and you are established person who can take care after whole family.
Zdravo: You certanly have to have a different way of behaviour in the fashion industry, outside of professional engagements. Among other things you are hanging out with many famous people. Have you ever had indicent offer?
Katarina: Until now I haven't been experienced anything like that. I think the most important is that you know how to present yourself to the surrounding. I think that I posses a dose of equability at first look, I know how to behave with everyone and to what limit can I go.
Zdravo: How do you keep your body in shape?
Katarina: With everyday physical activities. Even now while I'm in Skopje I walk up to the Sredno Vodno or I run. I am careful with the food. I don't like fast food. I have always eaten home made specialties by my mother which unfortunately makes them rarely now. I eat vitamins, drink 2 liters of water every day and every morning I eat cereal. When I have time I go on massages to ''Afrodita S'' and recently I buy creams for the body.
Zdravo: What is happening with your love life? I know you have a new boyfriend...
Katarina: Well I am in love :) ... Yes, I have a new boyfriend ... which is nothing new.. I think I gave you a pretty good answer!!!
Zdravo: What is your next challenge?
Katarina: To get marry ... but after some 10 years :)! I expected a lot of work, many new names, but it is too early to reveal that, I will keep that for the next time. After the movie in Macedonia I hope that even Hollywood will see me some day ... why not?! :)
